Heart attacks and sudden strokes are increasingly affecting young adults in their twenties and thirties, altering the medical landscape. Hospitals are receiving alarming numbers of young people suffering from acute strokes in the arteries of the heart and brain, some of which lead to immediate death.

This shift has prompted doctors to sound the alarm, noting that what was once considered a "disease of the elderly" is now threatening young people without warning. The danger lies in the fact that many of these cases occur without any apparent warning signs, with fatigue or simple chest pain turning into a sudden cardiac arrest.

Dr. Gamal Shaaban, former Dean of the National Heart Institute in Egypt, revealed a significant increase in heart attacks among young people. The percentage of cases in intensive care for the 20-30 age group has increased by approximately 30% compared to normal rates.

In a comment to Al-Arabiya.net and Al-Hadath.net, Shaaban explained that the root cause is no longer genetic, but rather a direct result of modern lifestyles, most notably chronic late nights and lack of sleep. Young people need five to six hours of sleep per night to maintain heart health, as staying up late weakens the heart muscle.

Shaaban emphasized that excessive reliance on technology and smart devices leads to reduced physical activity and inactivity, contributing to increased stroke rates. Strokes also occur as a result of modern toxins such as tobacco and hormonal supplements, which are dangerous factors that damage blood vessels and deplete oxygen levels.

The former dean of the Heart Institute strongly warned against the indiscriminate use of sports supplements and hormonal substances like testosterone. He confirmed that they cause severe damage to the heart and kidneys and can lead to sudden cardiac arrest. More than 25% of adults suffer from high blood pressure without knowing it, which is a major gateway to atherosclerosis and heart attacks.

Shaaban stressed that life's pressures, intense sadness, and emotional distress play a role no less dangerous than organic factors in causing sudden heart attacks. For his part, Dr. Ahmed Shabana, a consultant cardiologist, confirmed that most strokes in young people occur without clear warning signs. He pointed out that lack of sleep, tobacco use, and unsupervised supplements are the primary causes of heart weakness and increased risk of strokes.

Shabana emphasized to Al-Arabiya.net and Al-Hadath.net the importance of being aware of the early signs of strokes, which include chest pain, shortness of breath, sudden sweating, or numbness and weakness on one side of the body.

He stressed that prompt intervention within the first few minutes of these symptoms could save a young person's life.

Shabana concluded by saying that the first line of defense is lifestyle change. This includes regular medical checkups, exercise, getting enough sleep, and avoiding tobacco and harmful supplements that threaten the lives of young people in their twenties and thirties.
