Egypt Closes Grand Museum in Preparation for Official Opening
The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism announced the temporary closure of the Grand Egyptian Museum from October 15 to November 4, 2025, as part of the final preparations for the official opening scheduled for November 1.
Ghanem, CEO of the Grand Egyptian Museum Authority, stated that during this period, the museum will carry out several organizational and logistical works in preparation for the official opening ceremony. He explained that the museum will resume receiving visitors during official working hours on November 4, which coincides with the 103rd anniversary of the discovery of the tomb of the Golden King Tutankhamun, according to a statement issued by the ministry.
It is worth noting that the Grand Egyptian Museum has been undergoing trial operations for a number of its locations since October 16, and the Museum Authority began implementing the new official opening hours for these locations in February. The museum welcomes visitors in summer and winter, seven days a week, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. It also opens in the evening on Saturdays and Wednesdays of each week, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
