Dubai Welcomes 8.68 Million Tourists in 5 Months
Dubai welcomed 8.68 million international tourists during the first five months of this year, between January and May, an increase of approximately 7 percent compared to the same period in 2024, when it welcomed 8.12 million visitors.
According to the January-May Tourism Performance Report issued by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, the city attracted 1.53 million international tourists during May of this year.
Western European countries topped the list of tourist-sending countries to Dubai during the first five months of the year, accounting for 22 % or approximately 1.917 million tourists. Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and Eastern Europe came in second, with 1.396 million tourists, representing 16 percent of the emirate's total visitors. South Asia followed with 1.242 million tourists, representing 14 percent of the total number of visitors. The Gulf Cooperation Council countries came in fourth with 1.275 million tourists, representing 15 percent of the total number of visitors.
The Middle East and North Africa countries ranked fifth among the countries supplying tourists to Dubai, with 989,000 tourists, representing 11 percent, followed by Northeast and Southeast Asian countries, with a share of 9 percent, or approximately 771,000 visitors, according to the official Emirates News Agency.
According to data from the Department of Economy and Tourism, the number of visitors to Dubai from the Americas during the first five months of this year reached 601,000, representing 7 percent of the total number of visitors. Visitors from Africa reached 346,000, representing approximately 4 percent, and visitors from Australia reached 141,000, representing approximately 2 percent of the total international visitors to Dubai during the same period.
The number of hotel rooms in Dubai at the end of last May reached 153,356 rooms across 825 establishments, compared to 150,202 rooms across 822 establishments at the end of May 2024. The average hotel occupancy rate across all establishments operating in Dubai during the first five months of this year reached 83 percent, compared to approximately 81 percent during the same period in 2024.
The number of rooms booked during the first five months of this year exceeded 19.09 million, a 4 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024, when the number of rooms booked reached approximately 18.34 million. The average length of stay for guests was 3.8 hotel nights during the first five months of the year.
The average daily rate for a hotel room during the first five months reached AED 620, a 5 percent increase compared to AED 590 during the same period in 2024. The average revenue per available room reached AED 513, a 7 percent increase compared to AED 478 during the same period in 2024.
