Abu Dhabi ranks world's safest city

UAE capital is the Safest City Globally

The UAE capital Abu Dhabi has topped a list of the world's safest cities for the ninth consecutive year.

Complied by online database Numbeo, the capital has held the top spot for almost a decade and reflects the emirate's continuing efforts to enhance the quality of life for citizens, residents and visitors, state news agency Wam reported.

The UAE was strongly represented in the top 10 of the list with Dubai being named in fourth place and Sharjah taking the fifth spot. Ras Al Khaimah and Ajman were sixth and seventh in the rankings.

The crowd-sourced global data website ranked 382 cities in the 2025 standings and evaluated it based on comprehensive safety metrics that checks security systems, community-focused policing initiatives and emergency response capabilities.

Safety is calculated on the results of surveys completed by the public on the Numbeo website, and also takes into account the level of crime in the city.

Abu Dhabi has a safety index of 88.4 out of 100, while Dubai's ranking at 83.8 and Sharjah's at 83.8.
