The European Royal Grand Ball in Cairo
Inside the venerable crystal hall of Abdeen Palace, lights twinkled above corridors carpeted with red rugs dating back to the era of Muhammad Ali, in preparation for welcoming kings, princesses, and celebrities from Europe and around the world. This is the scene Cairo has prepared for the extraordinary Grand Ball, held annually under the patronage of Prince Albert II of Monaco, and taking place in Egypt for the first time outside Europe.
This week, Cairo is witnessing an unprecedented event on both the cultural and diplomatic fronts, as it hosts the European Royal Grand Ball for the first time in the event's history outside the European continent. The royal celebration will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, inside the historic Abdeen Palace.
A Royal Dinner and a Classical Music Concert
A royal dinner and a classical music concert will be held in Cairo, accompanied by a series of events before and after the event. These events include concerts and artistic performances at various venues throughout Cairo.
The program includes an official reception, a fashion show, a classical music concert, a royal dinner, and a meeting with prominent figures from the cultural and diplomatic worlds.
This year's edition, titled "Royalty on the Nile," chose Cairo as its first stop outside Europe. Abdeen Palace was selected for two reasons: firstly, symbolically, as the palace is one of the most important royal palaces in Egypt and a suitable venue for reviving royal rituals; and secondly, practically, as the palace's opulent halls and reception corridors make it an ideal location for a Grand Bowl-style event.
The Grand Bowl is one of the most prestigious and important royal charity events in the world and is being held in Cairo for the first time in history as part of the closing events of the Global Hope Donors Campaign.
The three-day event is held under the official auspices and coordination of the Egyptian Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Youth and Sports, and Tourism and Antiquities, in addition to local and international institutions and UN organizations.
This event will be held under the patronage of Prince Albert II of Monaco, and will be attended by prominent members of European royal families, Hollywood stars, and leading figures in the arts, politics, and humanitarian work from around the world.
Event Details and Program
The events will begin in Cairo on November 7th at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat, with an international masterclass on art and humanitarian work, featuring prominent Egyptian figures including artist Safaa Abu El-Saoud, as well as a session on women's empowerment as part of the "Listen to Her" initiative.
The main event will take place on the evening of November 8th at Abdeen Palace, amidst a regal atmosphere blending European grandeur with the rich history of Egypt. The program will feature classical music performances, international artistic acts, and a lavish formal dinner for guests, accompanied by performances from renowned musicians and singers from Europe and around the world.
The celebrations will conclude on November 9th with a special event at the City of Arts in the New Administrative Capital. The event is expected to feature the internationally acclaimed artist Erika Bochenko, an icon of the James Bond film series. Additionally, a concert by the artist Safaa Abu El-Saoud will be held at the Cairo Opera House, celebrating Egyptian heritage and supporting the global Hope Donors campaign.
Royal Attendance and International Stars
The event will be attended by approximately 100 prominent figures, including more than 80 of the world's wealthiest individuals, as well as official representatives from European royal families, such as Princess Beatrice de Bourbon-Sicily and Prince Joachim Moyrard, officials from the Princely Palace of Monaco, and ministers from France and other leading European countries.
The event will also be attended by Hollywood stars and prominent figures from the worlds of finance, business, humanitarian work, and NGOs.
Unique Humanitarian and Cultural Goals
The Grand Bowl's significance extends beyond its luxurious, regal character. This year, it carries a profound humanitarian message, as it coincides with the closing events of the global "Givers of Hope" campaign.
This initiative, launched by Egyptian tennis champion Anwar El Kamouny, aims to support patients and spread stories of inspiration worldwide, particularly among children and women. A portion of the event's proceeds will be dedicated to charitable causes, in collaboration with prestigious Egyptian and international ministries and institutions, such as the Ministries of Culture and Tourism, and UN organizations.
The event is expected to enhance Egypt's image as a global cultural and tourist hub capable of hosting sustainable luxury events. It also presents an opportunity to showcase Cairo's historical architecture, most notably the Abdeen Palace, which has undergone extensive renovations in preparation for this historic occasion.
