The Slim iPhone Air
Apple has created an unbreakable phone: the iPhone Air can withstand bending and shattering attempts.
At just 5.7mm thin, the new iPhone Air is thinner than Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge. It's so thin that its owner expects it to easily break in half if they accidentally sit on it or try to bend it.
Now that the iPhone Air is arriving in the hands of reviewers and early adopters, it seems the first thing everyone does with this ultra-thin phone is try to bend it. Some even go too far, bending it over the edges of a table, smashing it with hammers, and so on. The problem is, no one has succeeded in breaking the iPhone Air yet. According to a report by the Android Authority website, which specializes in technology news, Apple appears to have created an unbreakable iPhone.
Among the tests conducted for the slim iPhone Air was a practical bending test conducted by a Chinese YouTuber named "Mediastorm," unlike the other chaotic tests of the phone circulating online. The YouTuber placed an iPhone Air and an iPhone 6 Plus in a device that applied downward pressure to the center while supporting the edges, simulating the actual bending stress that might occur in the real world.
The machine recorded a force of 60.1 kg on the iPhone Air and 60.2 kg on the iPhone 6 Plus. The iPhone Air barely moved from its position, while the shape of the iPhone 6 Plus was clearly distorted. Mediastorm noted that a slight bend could be felt when applying firm pressure to the iPhone Air, but once released, the phone returned to its normal shape.
Meanwhile, other content creators are subjecting the iPhone Air to unscientific experiments. A short YouTube video from the HowToHacksYT channel shows a person trying to forcefully bend the iPhone Air, but it doesn't bend. On TikTok, a man wearing black gloves attempts to destroy the phone by slamming it against the edges of a table and hitting it with a hammer. According to all accounts, the phone was supposed to shatter, but it emerged unscathed from the tests.
Apple has released its own videos demonstrating the durability of the iPhone Air. In one test, a 58kg machine pressed directly into the middle of the phone, yet it bounced back without suffering any damage. This is impressive for such a thin phone, and something Android companies planning ultra-thin phones can learn from.
