Egypt Announces Final Date for Grand Museum Opening
Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has agreed to set the opening date for the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) for November 1, according to an Egyptian government statement.
The opening is scheduled to witness official attendance from several countries around the world. On Wednesday, the Prime Minister directed the ministries and relevant authorities involved in preparing for this event to complete the arrangements being made at full speed to ensure the Grand Egyptian Museum and its surrounding area are fully prepared, ensuring the museum's opening is a memorable one.
Madbouly emphasized that the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum is being prepared to be an exceptional event, especially since it is scheduled to witness a distinguished official attendance from several countries around the world. The opening also includes a number of accompanying events.
Last June, Madbouly announced that the government had decided to postpone the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum to the last quarter of this year. Last February, Madbouly announced that the opening date for the Grand Egyptian Museum had been set for July 3, 2025, with the major event scheduled to span several days.
A previous statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities stated that the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum was scheduled for July 3, 2025, but was postponed in light of regional developments.
