Rosatom cooperates with the UAE to transport containers across the North Sea
The Director General of the Russian state corporation Rosatom, Alexei Likhachev, announced that the company plans to cooperate with an Emirati logistics company to implement long-term projects in the field of container transportation via the Northern Sea Route.
"We are actively working with the UAE and an Emirati logistics company to develop long-term projects and programs in the field of container transportation via the Northern Sea Route," Likhachev said during his participation in the International Arctic Forum, according to TASS.
It is worth noting that in 2023, Rosatom signed an agreement with Dubai Ports World to establish a joint logistics company. This announcement confirms a project unveiled in October of the same year, which involves shipping containers through the Arctic.
Rosatom has been working since 2018 to operate infrastructure for the Northern Sea Route, which connects Europe and Asia via the Arctic seas. The agreement with one of the world's leading port operators is a tangible indication of Moscow's ability to attract major international partners to the project, according to Reuters.
