Witkoff.. Trump Looks Forward to a Comprehensive Peace Agreement with Iran

Washington's Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, described the current US talks with Iran as "promising."  Witkoff indicated that US President Donald Trump is looking forward to a comprehensive peace agreement. He said, "Trump has made it very clear that he wants to see a comprehensive peace agreement with Iran that goes beyond a ceasefire. He hopes for that."

Regarding the negotiations between Washington and Tehran, he said, "We are already talking to each other, not only directly but also through intermediaries." Witkoff confirmed that the United States "will not allow any uranium enrichment in the agreement with Iran."

On the other hand, Witkoff commented on press reports published by US media outlets regarding a preliminary intelligence assessment that indicated that military strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities failed to destroy key elements of Tehran's nuclear program. Witkoff denied the reports, saying, "Iran's nuclear capabilities have been eliminated. It will be almost impossible to revive the Iranian nuclear program in the next few years."

He continued, "Trump has the ability to know when to push the button and when to withdraw his hand." He added, "We dropped 12 bunker-buster bombs on the Fordow (uranium enrichment) facility, and there's no doubt it was destroyed, so the reports circulating that somehow indicate we didn't achieve the goal are simply ridiculous."

He considered that "leakage of this kind of information, regardless of the information and from where it came, is outrageous. It's treason. So it must be investigated and whoever did it must be held accountable, whoever is responsible." Witkoff said, "The US president's goal was to eliminate Iran's uranium enrichment and nuclear weapons capabilities, and he achieved it after 12 days (of war). It wasn't an eternal war or a war for the sake of war."
