Egypt: We hope that negotiations between the US and Iran will contribute to de-escalation

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdel Aty expressed his hope that the indirect negotiations between the United States and Iran will lead to a rapprochement of views, which will contribute to de-escalation, reduce tensions in the region, and support security and stability.

This came in two phone calls held by Minister Abdel Aty with Badr Al-Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, and Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, on Sunday, according to a statement published by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on its Facebook page on Monday.

According to the statement, Minister Abdel Aty discussed regional developments, particularly regarding the fourth round of indirect negotiations between the United States and Iran on the Iranian nuclear issue, which Muscat hosted on Saturday, where he was briefed on the latest developments in the discussions between the two sides.

Minister Abdel Aty commended the commitment of both the US and Iranian sides to continuing the diplomatic process and Omani mediation efforts in this regard, reiterating Egypt's full support for initiatives aimed at reaching peaceful solutions through dialogue and diplomatic channels.

According to the statement, Minister Abdel Aty exchanged views with Steve Witkoff, the US President's Special Representative for the Middle East, regarding the US-Iran negotiations and developments in both Gaza and Ukraine
